- There are two ways of getting your IEC code.
- 1-Online method
- Visit the website of Directorate general of foreign trade (https://dgft.gov.in/)
- Click on “services” on the menu bar.
- Tap on “IEC” & then apply “Online application IEC” button.
- A new window will open where you need to fill in your PAN number.
- Choose “New IEC application”
- Upload the necessary documents required (https://dgft.gov.in/sites/default/files/app2_0.pdf)
- Click on “Director” to fill up the details of company’s directors.

- Click on “EFT” and this will redirect you to the online payment page.
- A nominal fee of INR 250 will be charged.
- Once you have made the payment process & your application is complete, you can take the printout of IEC application by pressing “PRINT” button.
- 2-Offline method
- Form ANF-2A (https://dgft.gov.in/sites/default/files/ANF2A.pdf)
- Fill in your details in Part A, B, C & D
- Self-attest all the pages.
- Self-attested copy of your PAN Card, Bank Passbook & 2 photographs.
- Demand draft in favour of DGFT regional office of INR 250.
- Send all the documents to the regional DGFT office.
- You will receive IEC allotment letter once all your documents are verified.
- Import-Export Code is a 10-digit unique number that is issued by Directorate general of foreign trade (DGFT), which is the sole authority to issue the Import-export guidelines.
- Note: IEC Code is applicable only when an individual is bringing in goods for business purpose and not for personal use.
