What is a digital signature certificate (DSC)?
Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) is an authorized signature form that is in electronic format. Digital signature certificates (DSC) serves as identity proof for an individual or a body corporate. Likewise, a digital signature certificate can be presented in electronic format to authorize proof of identity, to access information or services on the Internet.
The IT Act, 2000 has a certain provision that specifies the use of DSC for the documents which need to be submitted in electronic format & DSC will ensure the security & authenticity of the document. This is one of the most secure & authentic ways of submitting documents electronically.

Class 1 digital signature certificates (DSC) shall be issued for private individuals & business personnel. |
Class 2 digital signature certificates (DSC) shall be issued for both private individuals & business personnel both. |
Class 3 digital signature certificates (DSC) are generally issued to private individuals, business personnel & organizations. DSC 3rd class are high assurance certificates, primarily directed for e-commerce applications.
But DSC 3rd class can also be issued to individuals only on their physical appearance before the Certifying Authorities (CA).

What will change with the effect of this notification?
· DSC 3rd Class would require a Video to be recorded before its application process.
· No The traditional form of DSC i.e. No Paper-based DSC from 1st January 2021.
· All DSC has to be downloaded within 30 days after approval.
· Certifying the authority shall issue only DSC 3rd class from 01.01.2021 onwards.
· Even if the DSC approved prior to 31st December 2020 and not downloaded will be canceled.
· All the conversion from Class 2 to Class 3 would happen automatically, and there would no manual work require?
· All your DSC Generated that are pending for video, email, phone, or other verification, under any objection after 31st December 2020 will automatically be rejected and stock will be credited to your account.
